At the virtual award ceremony for the Duty Free News International (DFNI) – Frontier Asia Pacific Awards, Dubai Duty Free was announced the winner in the category ““Exceptional Achievement by an Airport Retailer in the Middle East “.

The award marks the retailer’s twentieth win in this category, which was previously named “Middle East Airport Travel Retailer of the Year” and recognized the airport retailer’s efforts in adapting its business to maximise revenue despite the enormous challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes the launch of Dubai Duty Free’s Home Delivery Service, which was introduced in June 2020 and provides a shopping channel for UAE residents. The award also recognized Dubai Duty Free ongoing Corporate Social activities, which continued to identify and supporting worthy causes,  as well as the retailer’s celebration of its milestone 37th anniversary in December 2020, which highlighted its long-standing commitment to the travel retail industry.

Commenting on the latest award, Dubai Duty Free’s Executive Vice Chairman & CEO, Colm McLoughlin said: ‘We are delighted to receive this award for  the twentieth consecutive year and I would like to thank everyone from the industry and the panel of judges who voted for Dubai Duty Free in this category. The past year has been difficult for the industry and I am very happy at the way that our team of staff and managers pulled together and continue to do so. My thanks also to our Chairman, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, for his ongoing support”.

Dubai Duty Free was also shortlisted in three other categories namely, “Exceptional Achievement by a Retailer – Online” for its Home Delivery Service, “Asia Pacific & Middle East Travel Retailer of the Year” and “Team of the Year” for its Operations and HR Teams.

The awards ceremony was held virtually for the second year running and was hosted by Felix Barlow, Publisher and Kapila Ireland, Editor of DFNI-Frontier.
